"Preparedness is peace of mind," said Dr. Heather Case, director of the scientific activities division of the AVMA. Pet emergency kits should include medical records, medications, food, water and other essentials, and veterinarian Jessi Cullen of BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Virginia Beach, Va., says it's vitally important that pets be identified with a microchip to help ensure animals and owners can be reunited.
