Disease foundations keep research alive

The biggest, most efficient nonprofit funders of disease research are not necessarily the oldest or largest foundations, an analysis of grants found. The Michael J. Fox Foundation awarded 82.6% of total 2011 revenue in grants. In second and third place on this top 20 list are the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Myelin Repair Foundation, which awarded 57% and 53.9%, respectively, of total revenue.
