Does anti-gay rhetoric disqualify political candidates?

Anti-gay rhetoric is rapidly becoming out of bounds for political candidates, the same way sexist, racist or anti-Semitic comments can sink campaigns, according to this analysis. Past anti-gay comments made by E.W. Jackson, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor in Virginia, have drawn condemnation from prominent Republicans such as Ari Fleischer, the former press secretary for President George W. Bush. "Jackson's antigay slurs are indefensible," Fleischer tweeted.
