Haploidentical stem cell transplant a first for Vietnam

Doctors at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in Vietnam performed the country's first haploidentical stem cell transplant. The procedure was conducted on a patient with acute myeloid leukemia. Cells used in the transplant were donated by the patient's sister, who was a half-match for the patient's human leukocyte antigen tissue type.
