Neb. program helps neighborhood stores emphasize healthy food

Grocers in the Healthy Neighborhood Store program in Douglas County, Neb., are located in "nutritionally fragile" neighborhoods -- those without close access to healthy foods. Grant money helps cover the costs of the program, which includes installing bike racks, holding recipe demonstrations and placing signage that points customers to healthy foods. One store in the program also designates a healthy checkout aisle that does not have candy or snack items.
