Research examines preventive dental care in children

Preventive dental visits for children were linked to a decline in the need for subsequent restorative services and lower nonpreventive costs, U.S. researchers reported in the journal Pediatrics. However, they found that the cost savings from preventive dental care failed to fully offset the Children's Health Insurance Program's expenditures for such services.
