UK academy group seeks solution to "teaching to the test"

In this blog post, Helen Drury, director of mathematics at ARK Schools in England, writes about how she worked with a testing board to develop practice tests to assess students' understanding of the academies' new maths curriculum and to prepare them for the GCSE exams. "These test papers represent a step change, moving from working in chunks to a more holistic approach," she writes. "This is the remedy to teaching to the test. Students have to retain the basics, and on top of that, also learn new, harder skills if they want to get a top level."
