Construction is underway on a $35 million student center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. "We are very excited about this project," said UAB Vice Provost for Administration and Quality Improvement Harlan Sands. The 159,000-square-foot building will have a precast and brick curtain wall. It will include a food service, book store and a 280-seat theater. The four-story structure is set to open by the 2015 fall semester, and brings "excitement" and will "create a much better student experience," said Carolyn Farley, the director of academic and student services.
