Booming home prices bypassed Germany during past decade

Almost alone in the industrialized world, Germany has been bypassed in the housing boom of the past decade. In fact, home prices are about the same today as they were a decade ago. The reasons include generous tax breaks on housing after reunification in the early 1990s, which created a flood of investment and a housing glut.
