IOSCO rule will put curbs on credit-rating agencies

Credit-rating agencies would be banned from designing products they cover under rules the International Organization of Securities Commissions is expected to implement. "Credit-rating agencies should prohibit credit-rating analysts from making proposals or recommendations regarding the design of structured finance products that the CRA rates," IOSCO said. The rules would affect Standard & Poor's, Moody's, and Fitch.
