Study: C. difficile infection hospitalizations increase annually

Recent research found that the number of hospital patients with intestinal bacteria called Clostridium difficile has increased by more than 10,000 cases annually. C. difficile has become more severe, developing resistance to some antibiotics that target colon bacteria, according to the study.
