States await influx of stimulus funds to pay for construction projects

State construction projects have received a modest amount of funding from the economic stimulus package so far. About $140 billion of the $787 billion package was intended to fund construction projects, according to the Associated General Contractors. "We're still kind of in a holding pattern, hoping the money flows soon," said Damian Hill, director of industry relations for the AGC of Michigan. "The industry still has a very high unemployment rate, and it's even worse here than it is in other states. So we're waiting and hoping that funding comes online soon and that projects start to get off the ground."
