Mexico's tourism industry appears to be on the rebound as efforts by Mexico's government and private business community help dissolve negative perceptions about the country's safety and security. Data from the World Tourism Organization show a recovery in Mexico's tourism receipts in 2012 amid a 7.2% rise in tourism-related spending. "It's surprising how few people want to dig into the facts and learn the true nature of things. Those who do, however, find the situation in Mexico not at all as it's portrayed in the press. It takes tasting and seeing to change these perceptions," said Josh Paine, president and CEO of CheapCaribbean.com.
