CMS urges doctors to sign up for payment transparency program

Physicians are not required to register for the National Physician Payment Transparency Program but doing so gives them a chance to review and dispute data before it is made public, a CMS official said. The program requires drug and device companies to report to CMS payments or gifts to physicians that are valued at $10 or more. Disputed data will be posted but marked as under dispute, while corrected data will override previous information.
