FEMA takes to airwaves to tout emergency alert system

Two years after launching the emergency alert system, the Federal Emergency Management Agency this week introduced a bilingual set of ads to inform Americans about the messages that authorities send via wireless networks. Designed to coincide with the annual Hurricane Preparedness Week, the public service announcements are FEMA's first efforts to advertise the system that sends out text messages warning people of extreme weather conditions or other disasters.
