Fight for same-sex marriage halted by state constitutions

Although the number of states approving same-sex marriage has doubled since November 2012, 36 states still oppose the unions and uphold traditional marriage within their state constitutions. "It's very difficult for the legislature to change with the changing times," says Colorado House Speaker Mark Ferrandino. "And there's nothing changing quicker than attitudes on equality" for the gay community.
