Worries resurfaced in Europe and the U.S. that the Federal Reserve may be contemplating an end to quantitative easing, helping to drive shares lower on both sides of the Atlantic. The mood was further soured by more gloomy economic projections from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
