Oil group, Fuels America weigh in on impact of RFS

The emissions reduction attributable to the Renewable Fuel Standard in 2012 was the equivalent of taking 7 million vehicles off the road, Fuels America said in response to a white paper issued by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The RFS has not resulted in a major reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions, the American Petroleum Institute said in its own comments. The RFS lessens the country's reliance on fossil fuels while spurring the development of low-carbon fuels, Fuels America said.
