Report examines subsidised school lunches on a global scale

The United Nation's World Food Programme has released a new report that offers international data on subsidised school meals. In this blog post, education reporter Nirvi Shah highlights some of the findings. The report shows that it costs nearly £49.3 billion a year to feed the 368 million kids around the world who receive subsidised meals. Data also show that while 49% of students in middle-income countries receive a daily meal at school, only 18% of students in low-income countries receive such meals.
