Study: Fecal calprotectin helps diagnose pediatric IBD

Fecal calprotectin measurements may be more accurate than other blood markers for diagnosing pediatric inflammatory bowel disease, according to a meta-analysis published in The American Journal of Gastroenterology that looked at data from eight studies. Researchers from the University of Edinburgh noted the impact of fecal calprotectin measurements on rates of endoscopy and re-evaluation of confirmed disease remains unclear.
