Tight BP control can carry risks for diabetes patients

Blood pressure control in patients with type 2 diabetes can be viewed as a U-shaped curve, with heart disease rates higher at both the low and high ends, researchers in Louisiana reported in the journal Diabetes Care. Co-author Dr. Gang Hu said the data suggest clinicians should be aware of potential harm from uncontrolled blood pressure and aggressively controlled blood pressure. He stressed the importance of individualized care plans.
