TSCA-reform bill strikes a balance, would bring consistency

The bipartisan Lautenberg-Vitter bill to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act will help focus the Environmental Protection Agency's resources on higher-risk chemicals, thus balancing public health needs and manufacturing interests, this editorial says. "There is also value -- economic and regulatory -- in having a standard across the country, rather than a state-by-state patchwork that fails to protect millions of Americans. And, by the way, this package has a chance of becoming law," the editorial adds.
