Wal-Mart reaches $81.6M plea deal in waste-dumping case

Wal-Mart has reached a plea agreement that will require the company to pay $81.6 million over charges that it dumped hazardous waste into public sewers in 2003 and 2004. Wal-Mart pleaded guilty to the charges, and it now "has a comprehensive and industry-leading hazardous waste program," Wal-Mart's Phyllis Harris said in a statement.
