Amelia Rose Earhart is ready to complete the round-the-world flight her namesake never did. Earhart plans to take off from Oakland, Calif., on June 23, flying east to west on a 17-stop, 24,000-mile route. She will be flying a modern Pilatus PC-12 NG equipped with a Honeywell Apex glass cockpit and satellite communications. She will become the youngest woman to circumnavigate the globe in a single-engine aircraft if the trip is successful.
