Judge approves $650M settlement in case over drug side effects

The drug company Boehringer Ingelheim has agreed to a $650 million settlement in a case involving the blood-thinning medication Pradaxa, which has been blamed in bleeding injuries. The settlement was accepted by U.S. District Judge David Herndon in East St. Louis, Ill., but 95% of the plaintiffs will have to agree to it as well.
