Roofs of 3 World Cup stadiums in Brazil made by N.Y. company

The roofing systems atop three stadiums in Brazil that will host World Cup matches were made by Birdair in Amherst, N.Y. For instance, a "141,000-square-foot, Teflon-coated fiberglass membrane" from the company covers the stadium in Belo Horizonte, while a "920,000-square-foot, double-layer suspended tensile roof" has been installed atop the Estadio Nacional arena. The company also built a "301,399-square-foot roof" for the Arena Fonte Nova, which would provide cover from the sun while maintaining natural daylight in the stadium.
