STEM industries must ramp up diversity, experts say

Some communities are being left out of the science, technology, engineering and math training being offered in more and more schools, experts warn, and reaching those underserved areas is crucial to increasing diversity in STEM industries. One example of change: A group called the Level Playing Field Institute has created a STEM program to provide African-American and Latino students in low-income areas of California with rigorous STEM training over the summer.
