Feds pursue more employers on suspicion of illegal hires

The Obama administration is ramping up criminal arrests and prosecuting cases against employers suspected of giving jobs to workers who don't have a legal right to work in the U.S., laying the groundwork for what officials say will prompt companies not to hire undocumented workers. But Republicans criticize the efforts, saying that focusing on employers -- instead of arresting and deporting the workers -- allows those people to stay in the labor force at a time of high unemployment for Americans.
