Hotels are shifting away from giveaways to increase focus on service

Hotel officials say hotels are increasingly focusing on the quality of service they offer in the post-recession economy. "Amenities don't impress. What comes down to it every time is service," said Laurence Geller, CEO of Strategic Hotels & Resorts. Major hotel chains such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt Hotels and Marriott International are finding ways to make their guests feel special by turning to boutique-style hotels.
