States take strides to boost BSN rates by 2020

Action coalitions in nearly 40 states answered the call from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute of Medicine to advocate recommendations that include raising the number of nurses with bachelor's degrees from 50% to 80% by 2020. "Some states will meet that 80% goal by 2020, based on the schools available, the relationships between those schools and how far they are now," said registered nurse Larry Strassner, a Maryland Regional Action Coalition member.
