CDC: 1 in 5 Americans visit an ED at least once each year

Twenty percent of Americans makes at least one emergency department visit every year, with Medicaid-covered children and adults being more likely to make such visits than the privately insured or uninsured, CDC researchers said. The most common causes of ED visits between 2009 and 2010 were injuries for adults and cold symptoms for children, according to the report.
