Fracking moratorium bill fails to advance in Calif. Assembly

Legislation that would place a temporary ban on hydraulic fracturing in California until rules are imposed for the drilling technique failed to advance in the state Assembly. It would be rash to shut down an entire industry because of unsupported pollution fears related to fracking, opponents of the measure said. "Fracking takes place miles and miles and miles below the well surface," said Assemblywoman Shannon Grove.
