Netflix over the next several years intends to increase its outlay for original programming to about 15% of its licensing budget, Ted Sarandos, the video service's chief content officer, said at a conference in New York. Sarandos also said Netflix's model and "buying power" may be leading networks to create more serials, which work better than procedurals for the binge viewing that's popular among the service's users.
