Okla. tornado claims so far total at least $85M, regulator says

Insurance claims related to recent tornadoes in 16 Oklahoma counties have amounted to at least $85 million so far, according to the state Insurance Department. Such claims totaled 22,422, with the tornadoes affecting nearly 4,000 structures and destroying 1,248 properties, according to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management. The claims count "shows just how disastrous severe weather can be in our state and the importance of protecting yourself with insurance," said state Insurance Commissioner John Doak.
