Report notes 1% dip in loyalty-program participation

Membership in grocers' loyalty programs declined 1% between 2010 and 2012, from 173.7 million to 172.4 million, according to the 2013 Colloquy Loyalty Census by LoyaltyOne. "The overall focus must shift from acquiring new memberships to better engaging the customer base and driving repeat purchase behaviors," the report says.
