SEC meeting next week will discuss forestalling runs on money funds

The Securities and Exchange Commission is pursuing efforts to keep an eye on money market fund outflows. The agency wants to avert the kind of run on the funds that befell the $2.6 trillion industry in the financial crisis. The SEC is meeting next week to consider rules to thwart that kind of rush for the exits.
