New $360 million California heart institute planned

California cardiac doctors are pooling their skills to create a new heart institute to rival the Mayo Clinic and other top hospitals. The Scripps Cardiovascular Institute will cost $360 million and combine the expertise of 100 doctors. It is expected to offer medical device testing services and may even perform heart transplants.
