School for advanced learners nurtured teen's interest in research

A Virginia school for advanced learners helped Tim Hobbs, who taught himself algebra in the fifth grade, to explore specialized course work and hands-on research during his junior and senior years of high school. Hobbs, 21, has finished bachelor's degrees in physics and mathematics and will start a doctoral degree in physics this fall.
