Smaller businesses lack awareness of cloud computing's benefits

Smaller companies are less likely to use hosted technology services than larger companies for a variety of reasons: because they haven't heard of cloud computing, they think it's unnecessary or they believe it would cost them more than if they managed their IT infrastructure themselves, according to a survey of 250 small organizations by GFI Software. Eighty-six percent of businesses with 100 to 249 employees used hosted or third-party tech services, while only 39% of businesses with fewer than 10 employees did, the poll found. All the companies surveyed had fewer than 250 employees.
