Study suggests HCV therapy before HAART for HIV patients

It may be better to complete hepatitis C treatment in HIV patients before beginning highly active antiretroviral therapy because HCV co-infection raises the risk for adverse reactions to HAART, Chinese researchers suggested. Their study found higher rates of grade 2 rash and hepatotoxicity in HIV patients who also were HCV RNA-positive.
