Commentary: Hotels are struggling to promote in-room movies

Columnist Joe Sharkey writes that LodgeNet Interactive, which is the major supplier of movies to hotels, and the hotel industry are faced with challenges in the post-recession economy as they promote in-room movies. Some of the problems that hotel chains face include the cost-benefit of investing in new amenities, such as flat high-definition screens for rooms, Sharkey writes. LodgeNet's new initiative -- the VOD 2.0, which features newly released movies -- might be considered too costly by some travelers.
