Does online school data encourage micromanagement of students?

Advances in technology are giving parents more access than ever to students' educational lives, raising concerns about student privacy and over-involvement among parents. Online student management systems can give parents real-time access to project timelines, the status of homework assignments and their child's current grades. One expert says parental involvement often helps improve student performance, but it also can lead to anxiety for students who feel micromanaged.
