House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica, R-Fla., recently met with members of the Transportation Construction Coalition, which is co-chaired by the Associated General Contractors of America. The group expressed concern over the possibility of diminished funding for highway programs. "For the transportation part of the construction industry -- [stimulus] money was a godsend, but that money has all been spent now," said Brian Deery, an AGC senior director. Mica assured the group that a new six-year transportaion bill is in the works, but spending cuts still are likely.
