PBS to experiment with promos during shows

PBS, starting this fall, is planning to run promotional messages for its corporate and foundation backers during four breaks in its "Nature" and "Nova" series. Such messages traditionally have run at the start or conclusion of PBS programming. The new placements, which may be extended to other PBS shows, are meant to keep viewers in their seats at the end of each program, but some PBS producers and executives worry their audiences and sponsors will balk at the new format.
