U.S. wine sales outpace France for the first time

Wine sales in the U.S. rose 7% last year after two years of slower sales, and Americans drank more wine than the French for the first time ever in 2010, according to data from the Wine Institute in San Francisco. Restaurants report that more patrons are switching back to full-bottle orders rather than sipping wines by the glass, and wine fans that downgraded to cheaper choices during the downturn are trading up again.
