Zinc plus vitamins offers no added help for acute diarrhea

A study in the Journal of Pediatrics found no additional benefit to adding vitamin A and micronutrients to zinc treatments for children with acute diarrhea. The World Health Organization and other groups recommend zinc supplements and the study confirmed its efficacy, but researchers said new trials with a larger sample size are needed to better test the idea of a combined therapy for severe pediatric diarrhea.
