Calif. signs new gambling compact with Miwok Indians

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a new gambling compact with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, easing payments the tribe must make to the state. The tribe, which operates the Red Hawk Casino, will now pay the state 15% of its winnings from slot machines, compared to 25% under the previous compact.
