Networks see value in creating content for second-screen apps

AMC, USA and MTV are among the networks producing second-screen content for their original series that includes complementary footage, interviews with actors and interactive features. The networks are eager to reach the 4 in 10 viewers who screen TV while using smartphones or tablets. "It's a new medium," said Mac McKean, senior vice president of digital media for AMC. "We want to see strong growth."
