Nev. county proposes concrete container for radioactive waste

A concrete container may be necessary in plans to store primarily defense-related radioactive waste from Tennessee at the Nevada National Security Site to protect the public from any radioactivity and secure the material, according to officials from Nye County, Nev. "Having to rely on the government to maintain security is an issue. It's very difficult to look that far into the future," said Darrell Lacy, director of the county's Nuclear Waste Repository Project Office.
