Researchers use iPS cells to create red blood cells, platelets

Researchers from Boston University and Boston Medical Center developed a method that uses growth factors to differentiate induced pluripotent stem cells into red blood cells and platelets. The technique utilizes the aryl hydrocarbon receptor pathway. The cells used in the study were from the CReM iPS Cell Bank.
